The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad, will on Saturday, 21 September 2024, turban as ‘Dujuman Katsina’ a revered and famed chieftaincy title from the old Borno empire by the Katsina Emirate Council.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Sardauna Francis, says the lawmaker will be honoured with the traditional title by the Emir of Katsina, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, at a turbaning ceremony to be held at the Emir’s Palace in Katsina, the state capital.
The statement said the conferment of the first-of-its-kind chieftaincy title on the APC legislator who represents Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency was in recognition of his milestone contributions to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the constituency and the state at large.
It added that states governor, ministers, legislators, diplomats and captains of industry, as well as people from different parts of the country, will grace the occasion.
“Colours of pomp and pageantry would be highlighted further by the Durbar of Horse Riders in majestic attires of turbans and flowing gowns during the conferment of the prominent traditional title on the astute politician,” the statement said
Aliyu, an accomplished political and economic scientist, was born in 1975 in Musawa Local Government Area of the state. He attended the Yero Primary School in Musawa town from 1980 to 1987, and Government Secondary School Musawa from 1987 to 1989.
He proceeded to Government Science Technical College, Mashi, but he was later transferred to Government Science and Technical College, Funtua, where he stayed from 1989 to 1992 and obtained his Senior School Leaving Certificate.
From 1992 to 1993, Ahmad was in the defunct National Guard at the Nigerian Army Depot for training. Afterwards, the combatant trained Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad was posted to Sani Abacha Barracks in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.
After the disbandment of the National Guard and subsequent conversion of the guards into the Nigerian Army by the Federal Government in 1993, Ahmad willingly resigned from the service and went back to school in 1994. He studied at Federal Science College, Sokoto, from 1994 to 1996.
He proceeded to Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, from 1996 to 1997 for the IJMB course. He later enrolled for remedial studies at Bayero University Kano (BUK), from 1997 to 1998. Thereafter, he got admission into the same BUK to study B.Sc Political/Economic Science and graduated in 2003.
He also undertook various development and professional courses within and outside the shores of Nigeria. Upon his graduation, Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad ventured into various businesses in both Katsina and Kaduna States where he built a network of friends from all regions of Nigeria and abroad.
With ultimate dedication and vast experience in both public and private sectors, Ahmad became the General Manager of D Radda Ventures Nigeria Limited, a successful oil and gas company, in 2003. When the current Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda was the Director of the company.
In 2015, the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency became the Personal Assistant of Dr. Radda who was the then Chief of Staff to the former Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, where he served for only one year.
On 14 May 2016, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda was appointed as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN) by President Muhammadu Buhari. Upon that achievement, Dr. Radda retained Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmad as his Personal Assistant.
Ahmad’s philanthropic achievements as personal assistant to the then SMEDAN boss invariably prompted the good people of Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency to elect him on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in 2023 to represent them in the Green Chamber.
