The Resource Centre for Human Rights and Education (CHRICED) recently organized a “Community Accountability Report Back” event in Kano State’s North Senatorial District.

The event brought together citizens from 7 LGAs of the district to engage in a discussion on issues surrounding constituency projects.

Constituency projects are funds allocated to legislators to execute developmental initiatives within their constituencies.

However, concerns are often raised regarding the transparency and effectiveness of these projects.

CHRICED’s initiative aimed to empower citizens by facilitating a platform for open dialogue. The report back likely included details on the status of constituency projects, potential challenges faced by communities, and avenues for residents to hold their representatives accountable.

This event aligns with CHRICED’s mission of promoting human rights and civic education by fostering communication between citizens and their representatives.

CHRICED hopes to ensure that constituency projects effectively address the needs of the communities they are intended to serve.

The outcome of the event could be the identification of specific concerns regarding constituency projects in the North Senatorial District. CHRICED may utilize this information to advocate for improved transparency and accountability in the use of these funds.
