Chairman of the Kano State Association of Aspirants under the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Haruna Yahaya Kadana, has called on the people of Kano State to unite and support credible candidates within the party, particularly governorship aspirant Malam Ibrahim Khalil, in order to rescue the state from its current socio-economic and political challenges.
Kadana made the call during a grand dinner reception organised by supporters and members of the Kano State Association of ADC Aspirants to welcome Malam Ibrahim Khalil back from the Saudi Arabia following the successful completion of his Umrah pilgrimage less than two weeks ago.
The colourful gathering attracted party stakeholders, aspirants, youth groups and loyal supporters from different parts of Kano State, with speakers at the event reiterating their commitment to strengthening the ADC ahead of future elections.
In his address, Hon. Kadana expressed confidence that the growing support enjoyed by Malam Ibrahim Khalil, especially among grassroots supporters and Christian communities across Kano State, would significantly alter the political landscape in the state.
He stressed the need for all aspirants contesting under the ADC platform l, from governorship to senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly positions, to embrace unity and support the most competent candidates for the overall interest of the party.
“Some of us already know those who are more qualified and capable of leading this struggle. There is honour in supporting competent individuals for the success of this movement and for the future of Kano State,” Kadana stated.
He further noted that unity, sacrifice and cooperation among party members would strengthen the ADC’s chances of emerging as a formidable political force capable of delivering purposeful leadership to the people.
According to him, sustained collaboration among party stakeholders would pave the way for what he described as “a rescue mission” aimed at addressing the numerous developmental and governance challenges facing Kano State.
Speaking shortly after, Malam Ibrahim Khalil reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC, insisting that neither he nor his supporters had any intention of defecting to another political party despite ongoing political realignments across the country.
“We remain firmly in ADC and we are not leaving this party for anybody. We shall remain patient, focused and committed until we achieve our political mission,” Khalil declared.
The governorship aspirant maintained that political success could only be achieved through patience, perseverance, sacrifice and sincerity of purpose.
“Victory does not come without endurance and sacrifice. We need prayers, honesty and total commitment in this journey. We must demonstrate loyalty and dedication through action,” he added.
Khalil further assured supporters that the ADC remained committed to offering an alternative leadership direction capable of addressing the socio-economic and political difficulties confronting Kano State.
Also speaking at the occasion, former Kano State Chairman of the ADC, Hon. Musa Shuaibu Ungoggo, disclosed that party stakeholders had endorsed Balarabe Rufa’i and Hajiya Naja’atu to oversee the affairs of the party in Kano State pending the resolution of internal legal matters currently before the court.
Ungoggo accused the present federal administration of attempting to weaken opposition politics and push Nigeria towards a one-party system, warning that such a development could threaten the country’s democratic stability.
“We will never support any attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Democracy thrives only where there is healthy opposition and political balance.
“Once the court matter involving our party is resolved, In Sha Allah, ADC will emerge stronger and victorious in the coming elections,” he stated.
Observers at the event described the gathering as a strong indication of renewed mobilisation efforts by ADC stakeholders seeking to reposition the party ahead of future electoral contests in Kano State.
