From Mu’awuya Bala Idris, Katsina

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has expressed concern over the worsening insecurity in the state, particularly the rising cases of bandit attacks on communities in some parts of the state.

The party strongly condemned the recent killing of a policeman and the abduction of several other people by suspected bandits in Sayaya village, Matazu Local Government Area.

Speaking with newsmen, a chieftain of the party, Lawal Tukur Batagarawa, described the Matazu incident as another tragic reminder of the deteriorating security situation confronting many communities.

He lamented the persistent attacks on communities in the state, despite peace agreements reportedly reached with bandits in some areas.

Batagarawa attributed the rising insecurity in Katsina and other northern states to poor leadership and the failure of governments at various levels to adequately protect lives and property.

He assured Nigerians that the ADC, as a party, would change the situation if elected into power in 2027.

He also expressed deep condolences to the families and communities affected by the recent bandit attacks in the state.

On the forthcoming National Convention of the party scheduled for the 14th of this month, Batagarawa commended the National Headquarters for its resolve to proceed with the convention despite threats from INEC to suspend it.

He argued that the leadership of INEC has no justification to stop the party from holding its convention under the guise of a court directive.

He added that the party in the state would conduct its ward, local government, and state congresses ahead of the national convention.
