From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Yobe State critical stakeholders have undertaken statewide consultations in preparation for the presidential primary of the party scheduled to hold on 25th and 26th May, 2026.
In a press statement signed by Adamu Maina Waziri, the State Party Leader; Alhaji Umar Kalli, the State Party Chairman; and Kaseem Gana Gaidam, a gubernatorial aspirant of the party, it was stated that after a thorough review of the presidential aspirants and a careful assessment of their individual capacities, national acceptability, and ability to effectively confront the candidate of the ruling party, they unanimously reached the following resolution.
That the aspiration of H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming 2027 general election, is hereby unanimously endorsed.
That this unanimous decision to endorse His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is informed by the following cogent and verifiable reasons:
i. Proven track record of public service: His Excellency has demonstrated unwavering commitment to national development through decades of service in both the public and private sectors, with a clear record of competence and integrity.
ii. National political spread and acceptability: He commands goodwill and support across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, making him one of the most unifying and electable candidates at this critical time.
iii. Capacity and experience: His extensive experience in governance, economic management, and national leadership positions him as a candidate with the capacity to address Nigeria’s current socio-economic and security challenges.
The Yobe State Chapter hereby makes a clarion call to all members of the ADC nationwide that the task before them is to defeat an incumbent who, according to them, has demonstrated intolerance and the capture of public institutions.
They maintained that a tested and competent candidate in the person of H.E. Atiku Abubakar remains the solution.
