The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to contest for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The clearance followed the successful screening of Governor Yusuf by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC after he submitted his nomination and screening forms.
The National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, who led the screening committee at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge, said the party had confirmed that Governor Yusuf satisfied all the constitutional and party requirements to seek a second term in office.
Following the screening exercise, Governor Yusuf was declared the sole contender for the APC governorship ticket in Kano State ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking after the exercise, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy and sustaining policies that promote peace, economic growth, and inclusive development across Kano State.
The governor also called on party members and supporters to remain united and continue working together for the progress of the state and the party’s victory in 2027.
