Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, alongside top government officials, attended the official declaration of Alhaji Baba Malam Wali as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking shortly after the declaration ceremony in Damaturu, the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Minister of Housing, Dr. Rabi’u Rabe Darma, announced that Baba Malam Wali emerged winner after polling a total of 236,711 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the Yobe State APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, pledged to build on the transformative achievements of Governor Buni’s administration.

He promised to prioritise the revitalisation of the education sector, human empowerment, agriculture, healthcare delivery, and other critical areas.

He expressed profound gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his leadership and commitment to fostering unity among party supporters in the state.

Wali further outlined key sectors his administration would focus on to sustain and expand the achievements of the Buni government, including youth and women empowerment, security, and infrastructural development.

He also commended members of the electoral committee for conducting a transparent and credible exercise across the state, and called on other contestants to join hands in ensuring the victory of the party in the forthcoming general election.

The declaration ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam; Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana; Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Chiroma A. Buba Mashio; former Senate President of the 9th Assembly, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan; former Inspector-General of Police, Baba Alkali Usman; and Lawan Kolo Gaidam.

Others present were the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Muhammad Goje; Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu; APC State Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka, among other top government functionaries.
