The Executive Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area, Hon. Hamza Sule Mai Fata, has continued to strengthen his reputation as a grassroots-oriented leader through a series of development projects and empowerment programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents across the council.
Since assuming office, Mai Fata has implemented people-centred initiatives spanning infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare.
His administration has focused on addressing immediate community needs while laying the foundation for sustainable development.
One of the administration’s major achievements is the empowerment of more than 2,000 beneficiaries with financial support ranging from N20,000 to N100,000, providing a lifeline for small businesses and vulnerable households.
The chairman also donated over N1 million to the Kwankwasiyya Drivers Association in Bichi to strengthen its operations and improve members’ livelihoods.
In the education sector, the council has invested in human capital development by sponsoring 40 male and female students to the Kazaure School of Health Technology.
It also funded the education of more than 10 students at Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
Additionally, 14 youths were sponsored to the Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre, where they received vocational training to enhance their employability and economic independence.
The administration has also improved learning conditions by providing classroom furniture to several primary schools across the local government and renovating an Islamiyya school near Rimayen Rake Hospital to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Infrastructure development has remained a key priority.
The council constructed a new access road linking Katsina Road to Tudun Tuluna, built culverts at Alhaji Dan Bale Layout and along the route from Gidan Alhaji Umaru Baban Yara to Dan-Turawa, complete with interlocking pavement.
The Yan-Gwarzo Bridge was also rehabilitated, improving transportation and connectivity for residents.
To tackle flooding and erosion, the administration carried out extensive land-filling and erosion control projects in Yan-Bundu and Santar Komau, providing lasting relief to affected communities.
Electricity transformers in Agata were also repaired to improve power supply.
Mai Fata’s administration further strengthened public institutions by renovating the Women Centre in Bichi, upgrading the KSSSMB office, constructing office accommodation for the 11 elected councillors, and beautifying the entrance to the local government secretariat with modern landscaping.
As part of its inclusive governance policy, the administration approved a N1 million intervention fund for residents of Kyuri community in Danzabuwa Ward and carried out environmental beautification projects around communities near the Bichi Local Government Secretariat.
Residents and stakeholders have praised Hon. Hamza Sule Mai Fata for what they describe as responsive and people-focused leadership, noting that his investments in education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and community development are driving positive change across Bichi Local Government.
They expressed confidence that the administration’s ongoing development efforts will continue to accelerate socio-economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
