The Plateau State Police Commissioner CP Olugbmiga Emmanuel Adesina has urged the good people of the State to refrain from engaging in any form of violent protest activities.

While emphasises the importance of maintaining law and order in all circumstances, and therefore uses the opportunity to call on the protesters to come to his office and discuss how the protest can be carried out peacefully.

He was speaking on Tuesday at the Police Officers Mess in Jos, with stakeholders which include the Traditional Council, the women’s group, JNI, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau Youth Council, Civil Society Groups, Non-Government Organizations, the PCRC, Security help groups, members of the media, among others.

He assured them that the Plateau State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rights of citizens to peaceful assembly.

While ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the State, he therefore warmed that, the Police will not stand and watch in spectation as lives, properties and critical infrastructures are being vandalized/destroyed.

This was given the upcoming planned protest slated to take place on the 1st of August 2024, that CP Adesina, convened the meeting with various stakeholders across the State.

The meeting was aimed at engaging in dialogue with the stakeholders to discuss measures through which the protest can be prevented from occurring in the State, and if it does take place, to ensure that it is conducted peacefully.

During the meeting, the stakeholders offered valuable suggestions for facilitating the peaceful conduct of the protest.

The CP appreciated the stakeholders for their selfless investment in the business of securing the State, especially in their prompt response whenever the Command sought their attention.

CP Adesina also informs the general public that the Command has made available the following active response phone numbers through which they can report any suspicious incidents around them during this period.
