Muslim faithful in Cross River State have been assured of adequate safety and security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The assurance was contained in a statement issued to The Triumph by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, felicitated with Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and also celebrated children across the state on the occasion of Children’s Day.
The Commissioner of Police directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Commanders of Operational Units to intensify security measures and ensure adequate deployment of personnel across the state ahead of the celebrations.
CP Afegbua charged officers and personnel of the command to strengthen visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, patrols, surveillance activities, and rapid response capabilities to guarantee a peaceful, safe, and crime-free atmosphere before, during, and after the festivities.
The command further disclosed that security deployment had been reinforced around worship centres, schools, recreation and amusement centres, markets, parks, highways, major transit routes, and other strategic public locations expected to witness increased human and vehicular movement during the celebrations.
ASP Akata also quoted the commissioner as urging parents and guardians to maintain proper supervision of children during the festivities, while advising residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents of a peaceful, secure, and crime-free festive season across Cross River State.
