The Provost Federal College of Education (FCE), Katsina Dr Aliyu Idris Funtua said the college has commenced awarding degrees in affiliation with Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Dr. Idris told our correspondent that the award of degrees followed the accreditation of courses by the National University Commission.
He announced a plan by the college to commence independent awards of degrees alongside NCE programmes.
Dr. Idris who spoke ahead of the college’s combined convocation slated for Saturday said that currently all programmes run by the college are accredited by the National Commission for Colleges of Education.
He said within eight years of his tenure the college’s lost glory was restored and commended the entire staff for their helping hand in addressing issues affecting the college.
According to him, in collaboration with the staff, he was able to clear all problems that remained a constraint for the progress of the college.
He further said: “We cleared four years of stagnation of promotion, enhanced Staff welfare, and provided needed teaching materials to restore the lost glory of the college
“l was appointed in 2016, we inherited many problems, but we can address these problems within eight years
“My tenure will end by August this year, I thank Allah that my tenure was a fulfilling one, we can lay a foundation and restore the Educational standard of the college. On the convocation graduates of 2007 to 2023 will receive certificates.”
He recalled that the college held its last convocation in 2006.
