From Joseph Asegba, Yola
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured stakeholders in Adamawa State that his administration is committed to completing all abandoned Federal Government projects in the state.
Speaking at a town hall meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Yola, the President, who was represented by his Personal Assistant on Constituency Affairs, Alhaja Khadijat Kareem Omotayo, reiterated his commitment to the growth and development of Adamawa State.
“I am here to reaffirm my dedication to working closely with state governors, traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to promote peace and development,” Omotayo stated on behalf of the President.
She emphasized that the administration would prioritize upgrading infrastructure, including roads and bridges, to improve connectivity and economic activities. “Mr. President is determined to implement initiatives that will enhance the lives of the people of Adamawa State.
This includes upgrading critical infrastructure, supporting entrepreneurs and farmers to create jobs, and stimulating economic growth,” she added.
In addition, she highlighted the government’s focus on improving access to quality education and healthcare, ensuring that residents of the state acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to compete in the modern economy.
On economic challenges, the President assured citizens that his administration was working hard to address the rising cost of living. He also promised to revisit abandoned projects in the state and ensure their completion.
“Rest assured that when I visit Adamawa again, it will be to launch new initiatives in a more impactful manner,” Omotayo quoted the President as saying.
The President also emphasized his commitment to the student loan program, urging eligible students to apply.
He encouraged stakeholders to support the initiative, stating that education remains a critical tool for national development. “Without education, there is no future. An educated individual has a greater capacity to manage businesses strategically and drive economic progress,” he noted.
He further explained that students could obtain loans without collateral and would only begin repayment two years after securing employment.
He also mentioned a collaboration through his Personal Assistant’s office to subsidize business registration costs, reducing the financial burden on entrepreneurs.
During the technical session, various stakeholders appealed for the completion of major abandoned projects, including the Yola-Mubi federal road, Numan-Jalingo road, Yola-Gombe road, and Lafia-Karim Lamido federal road, some of which had been neglected for over 40 years.
Traditional rulers also called for a constitutional role in addressing security challenges and advocated for rural electrification projects, particularly in the Central Senatorial Zone.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the initiative, which allowed stakeholders to directly voice their concerns.
Represented by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hon. James Iliya, the Governor pledged to support meaningful projects that would directly benefit the people of Adamawa State.
