Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KEBSIEC).

This was contained in a letter issued by the Director of the Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, signed by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to journalists on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The letter stated that the dissolution followed the expiration of the board’s tenure and would take effect from September 18, 2026.

“I am directed to inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission following the expiration of its tenure, with effect from September 18, 2026,” the letter stated.

It further clarified that the two other members of the Commission whose tenures have not yet expired would remain in office until the Commission is reconstituted.

Governor Nasir Idris commended the outgoing members for their meritorious service to the state and assured them of his administration’s renewed commitment to safeguarding the independence and integrity of the Commission.

“I assure you of the renewed determination of this administration to protect the independent status of the Commission,” the Governor said.

The dissolution of the Governing Board will take effect on September 18, 2026.
