Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and supporters of the party across the state to mobilize massively for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Commenting on the governor’s position, the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, said Nigeria’s multi-party democracy guarantees every citizen the constitutional right to choose a political party and support candidates of their choice.
He recalled that in the 2023 general elections, the people of Kebbi State overwhelmingly elected Comrade Nasir Idris on the platform of the APC, giving him a clear mandate to provide purposeful leadership.
According to him, Governor Idris came into office with a strong record in labour activism, trade unionism, and public service. Combined with the APC manifesto, those credentials earned him the confidence of the electorate.
Sadaukin Zuru noted that after years of what he described as inadequate representation of Kebbi State on federal boards and commissions, President Tinubu reversed the trend by authorizing Governor Idris to recommend qualified, experienced, and patriotic Kebbi indigenes for federal appointments.
He added that the governor also enjoys President Tinubu’s support in addressing cases involving the unjustified removal or denial of deserving Kebbi indigenes from positions in the federal service.
The aide further stated that the Federal Government has acknowledged Governor Idris’s commitment to tackling insecurity through the provision of logistics and financial support to security agencies engaged in the fight against banditry across the state.
He also highlighted the Federal Government’s continued intervention through food and agricultural palliatives distributed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, saying the support complements Governor Idris’s annual programme of providing free farming inputs to farmers in Kebbi State.
According to him, these achievements demonstrate that Kebbi benefits significantly from maintaining a strong working relationship with the APC-led Federal Government.
“For this reason,” he said, “Governor Nasir Idris has both the moral and political responsibility to lead Kebbi in delivering massive votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”
He, however, emphasized that every Nigerian retains the constitutional right to vote according to their conscience and their assessment of the candidates’ records and performance.
Sadaukin Zuru maintained that Governor Idris’s decision to align with President Tinubu has strengthened unity across political divides and accelerated development in various sectors of the state’s economy.
He therefore urged APC members and supporters in Kebbi State to remain united and mobilize for President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that sustaining the cordial relationship between Kebbi State and the Federal Government would be in the overall interest of the people.
