Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating industrial development through strategic partnerships with the Republic of Turkey.
The Governor made this known during a high-level meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Mehmet Poroy, and a delegation of Turkish businessmen at the Government House, Kano.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Thursday.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani, Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s resolve to reposition Kano as a leading industrial hub in Nigeria and West Africa.
He noted that partnerships with countries like Turkey, renowned for their industrial and technological advancements, are essential to achieving this vision.
He further expressed the state government’s readiness to collaborate with Turkish investors and institutions in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and commerce, to enhance service delivery and stimulate economic growth.
The Governor assured prospective partners of a conducive business environment, supported by policies aimed at attracting foreign investment, improving the ease of doing business, and ensuring the protection of investments.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, advancing human capital development, and promoting innovation through knowledge exchange and technical cooperation with Turkish counterparts.
In his remarks, the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Mehmet Poroy, stated that his visit was aimed at deepening bilateral relations between Kano State and the Republic of Turkey, particularly in trade and other sectors critical to socio-economic development.
He added that, to facilitate easier travel between Kano and Turkey, the Turkish government will soon establish a visa office in Kano to process travel documents for intending travelers.
The meeting featured productive discussions and a robust exchange of ideas between officials of the Kano State Government and members of the Turkish delegation.
