The Managing Director of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Engr. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, has described the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as a turning point in the development of Kano’s transportation sector, saying the governor’s three years in office have brought remarkable reforms, modernization and institutional strengthening.
Engr. Kabir stated this while highlighting the achievements of the administration as it marks its third anniversary, noting that KAROTA has experienced significant improvements through consistent government support, strategic policies and investments aimed at enhancing traffic management and road safety across the state.
According to him, the agency inherited several operational challenges but has witnessed a new direction under Governor Yusuf’s leadership, with improvements in manpower development, enforcement strategies, record management and public service delivery.
“The story of KAROTA today is a story of transformation. Through the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the agency has received unprecedented attention, allowing us to train and retrain our personnel, improve traffic control systems, strengthen road safety enforcement and rebuild public confidence,” he said.
The KAROTA boss explained that the governor’s commitment to strengthening government institutions has provided the agency with the needed support to effectively execute its responsibilities and contribute to a safer and more organized transport system in Kano.
He further noted that the administration’s achievements extend beyond transportation, pointing to developments recorded in infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental sanitation, agriculture and youth empowerment.
Engr. Kabir particularly highlighted the governor’s urban renewal initiatives and road rehabilitation projects, describing them as key interventions that have improved movement, reduced traffic challenges and supported economic activities within Kano metropolis and other areas of the state.
He emphasized that Governor Yusuf understands the importance of an efficient transport system as a foundation for economic growth and social development.
“Transportation is a major driver of progress in any modern society. Governor Yusuf recognized this early and has continued to support programmes that improve mobility, enhance safety and promote orderly traffic management across Kano State,” he added.
The KAROTA Managing Director also praised the governor’s people-focused approach to governance, saying the administration has continued to prioritize projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.
He said investments in education, healthcare, social support and economic empowerment have contributed to strengthening public confidence and accelerating development across the state.
Describing Governor Yusuf as a leader with vision and commitment, Engr. Kabir said the achievements recorded within three years have created a strong foundation for further growth and development.
“As Kano people reflect on the journey of the last three years, there is every reason to acknowledge the progress achieved. Governor Yusuf’s leadership has transformed institutions like KAROTA and repositioned Kano towards sustainable growth and prosperity,” he stated.
He congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on his third anniversary in office and reaffirmed KAROTA’s commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda for the benefit of the people of Kano State.
