The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced Jamilu Ishiaku Gwamna as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election in Gombe State, following the conclusion of the party’s primary election conducted across the local government areas of the state.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, who said the exercise was conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act 2022, as well as the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the party.
Danladi disclosed that a total of 556,081 accredited voters participated in the primary election held across the state.
According to the official results released after the final collation, Gwamna polled 247,161 votes to emerge winner of the contest.
He added that Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami scored 12,120 votes, while Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali garnered 11,612 votes.
“I, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, hereby declare Jamilu Ishiaku Gwamna as the winner of this primary election and return him elected as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election,” he announced.
The committee chairman further disclosed that two aspirants, Pantami and Alkali, had submitted written notices of withdrawal, although their letters were received after the commencement of the electoral process.
He noted that their names had already been included on the ballot papers, and votes were still recorded for them.
Danladi commended the leadership of the APC at both the national and state levels for their support, which he said contributed to the smooth conduct of the primary election.
He also praised members of the election committee for their cooperation, as well as security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly process throughout the exercise.
The chairman further appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for providing what he described as a level playing field for all aspirants and for his commitment to democratic principles.
He thanked party members and residents of Gombe State for their peaceful conduct during the primary election.
