National Hajji Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has advised Nigerian pilgrims to take precautionary measures against heatstroke while performing their hajj exercise through out the period.
The National Chairman of the Commission Jalal Ahmad Arabi who spoke through the head of Medical Team of the Commission, Dr Abubakar Adamu Ismail gave the advice in an interactive session with Media team of the Commission held at its premises in Makka.
He said this would help towards ensuring their health condition and well-being while performing their hajji operation.
Arabi said the essence of the session was to sensitise and enlighten Nigerian pilgrims on the negative consequences of heatstroke on their health condition.
According to him the weather condition of the Holy Land is expected to reach 50 degree celsius during the hajj exercise.
The National Chairman informed that some of the symptoms a pilgrim may experience as a result of harsh weather included fever, headache, and dizzinesss among others.
Jalal Arabi stressed the need for pilgrims to employ ways of managing and preventing measures against the heatstroke.
This he said included avoiding standing on heat sun but should rather stay in cold places, constant drinking of water as well as provision of umbrella.
