The Human Rights Research and Advocacy Centre (HURRAC) has condemned the recent spate of killings in Benue State, describing them as a gross violation of the fundamental right to life and security.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Coordinator, Zubair Muhammad Esq., the group expressed deep concern over the rising violence in the state and called on the federal and state governments to act swiftly to end the bloodshed.

“The killings are unacceptable. The government must act decisively to protect lives, investigate these atrocities, and hold perpetrators accountable,” Muhammad said.

The Triumph gathered that dozens of people were reportedly killed in separate attacks on rural communities across the state in recent weeks, sparking outrage among residents and civil society groups.

HURRAC called for the immediate deployment of adequate security personnel to affected areas and emphasized the need for justice for victims and survivors.

The organization also urged authorities to provide humanitarian support to displaced families and strengthen community peacebuilding initiatives to prevent further violence.

Reaffirming its commitment to promoting human rights and justice across the country, HURRAC said it would continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for accountability.
