Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State on Thursday reaffirmed their full support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, unanimously endorsing him for a second term ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The affirmation took place during a massive party gathering held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where thousands of party faithful, delegates and supporters gathered in what was described as a strong show of unity and confidence in the governor’s administration.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Congress, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, said the overwhelming turnout reflected the acceptance and popularity Governor Yusuf continued to enjoy among party members and residents of the state.
Shagari described the endorsement of the governor for a second term as recognition of his administration’s achievements in key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment.
According to him, the APC remained united and committed to ensuring the continuation of policies and programmes that had positively impacted the lives of the people.
He expressed confidence that the party would record another victory in Kano State, stressing that Governor Yusuf had demonstrated leadership qualities worthy of continuity.
The motion affirming Governor Yusuf for a second term was moved by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, who praised the governor for strengthening public trust in the party through developmental projects and people-oriented governance.
Barau stated that the governor’s performance had convinced party leaders and supporters that he remained the best choice to continue leading Kano State.
The motion was seconded by Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who declared that APC members across the state were fully united behind the governor’s second term bid.
Delegates and party supporters at the gathering later affirmed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the APC’s consensus candidate through a voice vote amid loud cheers and celebrations.
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a responsibility to serve the people with greater commitment.
The governor pledged to intensify efforts toward improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and economic opportunities across Kano State.
He also assured residents that his administration would continue to uphold transparency, inclusiveness and good governance while delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.
Governor Yusuf further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC stakeholders at both the state and national levels for their support.
The event ended with renewed calls for unity among APC members as supporters celebrated the affirmation of Governor Yusuf for a second term in office.
