The Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration to enhance security across the state.
The Corps made this known during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the 3rd Brigade of the Nigerian Army at Bukavu Barracks in Kano.
The Commander-General of the Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik (retd.), who led the delegation, said the visit was part of efforts to build a coordinated and effective security architecture through collaboration with key stakeholders.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Public Enlightenment of the Corps, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, and made available to The Triumph, said the engagement was also aimed at formally introducing the mandate and operational framework of the Corps, while seeking to deepen cooperation with the Army.
According to him, the Corps was established to complement conventional security agencies through intelligence gathering, community engagement and proactive crime prevention at the grassroots level.
“The evolving nature of security challenges requires a unified and collaborative approach. Synergy among security agencies is critical in ensuring the protection of lives and property,” Abdulmalik said.
He commended the Nigerian Army for its role in maintaining peace and stability, describing the 3rd Brigade as a vital partner in safeguarding communities.
He added that the Corps was ready to strengthen information sharing, improve operational coordination and support the overall security framework in the state.
Responding, the Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Ahmed M. Tukur, appreciated the visit and reiterated the Army’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to enhance security.
He also commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for establishing the Corps, noting that the initiative would complement the efforts of existing security agencies.
“Kano is a major commercial centre and can be vulnerable to external threats, but with the creation of this Corps, security agencies will be better supported,” he said.
The Corps noted that the visit underscores the state government’s broader commitment to promoting collaboration among security agencies and addressing security challenges through collective responsibility.
