From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
A member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Dandume Constituency, Hon. Yahaya Nuhu Mahuta, has launched a special Qur’anic recitation and prayer programme across Dandume Local Government Area, seeking divine intervention to address the security challenges affecting communities in the area.
The initiative brings together Islamic clerics and traditional leaders from the 11 wards of the local government area, who have commenced the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and special prayers for peace, security, and stability.
Mahuta said the programme was inspired by deliberations of the Katsina State House of Assembly on Monday, June 22, 2026, during which lawmakers discussed measures to address the prevailing security situation in parts of the state.
According to him, the decision to mobilise religious leaders for prayers was informed by the need to seek Allah’s guidance and assistance in overcoming the challenges confronting the people.
He noted that the Qur’anic recitations would be conducted by clerics from both the Darika and Izala groups across the 11 wards, with participants committed to offering continuous prayers for an end to banditry and other security threats.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that collective prayers and spiritual supplications would complement the ongoing efforts of the government and security agencies to restore lasting peace in the affected communities.
Residents and community leaders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely step towards fostering unity and inspiring hope among the people amid the prevailing security challenges.
