The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 23 drug dealers as part of its efforts to curb crime and ensure public safety.
This was disclosed by the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, during a press briefing to highlight the Command’s achievements in 2024.
The Commissioner, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Sadig Aliyu, stated that the arrested suspects have been charged to court.
ASP Abubakar explained that the Command successfully disrupted the supply channels of illicit drugs operated by the arrested suspects, further strengthening the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
In 2024, the Command also achieved significant milestones in combating other criminal activities.
A total of 319 victims were rescued from kidnappers and bandits and have since been reunited with their families. “We neutralized 40 bandits, disrupted their operations, and made our communities safer,” the Commissioner said.
The Command arrested 81 suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 2,081 stolen animals, all of which were returned to their rightful owners.
Additionally, 100 suspected rapists and sodomists were apprehended, alongside 199 suspected armed robbers. Thirty-two suspected vandals were also arrested and prosecuted during the period.
The Commissioner revealed that 89 suspected vehicle thieves were arrested, and the Command recovered 27 stolen vehicles and motorcycles, which were returned to their owners.
He commended the Katsina State Government and other stakeholders for their continuous support of the Command’s operations. He also called for stronger collaboration with the media to enhance the fight against crime.
