The Plateau North Unity Forum has endorsed Prof. Danladi Abok Atu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 senatorial seat representing Plateau North Senatorial District.

The Forum said the endorsement followed a careful assessment of qualified personalities within the zone, noting that Prof. Atu emerged as the most suitable candidate.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday in Jos, the Forum’s spokesperson, Da Timothy Choji Kim, said the decision was not based on sentiment but on merit, competence, and confidence in Atu’s ability to provide purposeful representation.

According to him, Prof. Atu is a distinguished academic with a Ph.D. in Social Studies, specializing in Peace Education and Social Rehabilitation, adding that his intellectual depth and practical experience position him well for effective lawmaking.

“Beyond academia, his leadership experience speaks volumes. From his days as Secretary and later Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council to his tenure as Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Prof. Atu has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and administrative capacity,” Kim said.

He described Atu’s leadership style as inclusive, strategic, and people-oriented.
Kim further noted that the Forum believes Plateau North has suffered from underrepresentation, resulting in slow development across the zone.

He attributed this challenge largely to disunity among the various ethnic and religious groups in the area, stressing that such divisions have hindered collective progress.

The spokesperson said the Forum is committed to fostering unity as a pathway to sustainable development.

He explained that the group operates under the motto, “Our Diversity, Our Strength,” which he described as both a guiding philosophy and a framework for engagement.

“In a society as diverse as ours—across ethnicity, religion, culture, age, and gender—we believe our differences should unite rather than divide us,” he said.

“Our aim is to build trust and strengthen unity among the people of Plateau North and beyond. The Forum is inclusive and free from religious, ethnic, generational, or gender bias.

“We are a forum of the people, by the people, and for the people, where every voice matters and every individual counts,” Kim added.
