The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commissioned the Continental Events and Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art facility built and equipped by Katsina-based entrepreneur, Alhaji Salisu Mamman. During the event, the governor called on wealthy individuals to invest in the development of the state.
Our correspondent reports that the complex—the first of its kind in Katsina State—features three event centres with a combined seating capacity of 2,600, two futsal pitches with spectator pavilions, as well as a modern gymnasium and fitness centre.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Radda commended Alhaji Mamman for his immense contributions to job creation and economic development in the state.
He noted that the philanthropist has previously funded the construction of schools, healthcare centres, worship centres, and other projects aimed at alleviating the suffering of the masses.
The governor assured the business community of his administration’s full support for individuals and organizations willing to invest in Katsina’s industrial development.
In his opening remarks, Alhaji Salisu Mamman—Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Continental Computers—described the newly commissioned complex as a reflection of his unwavering commitment to promoting health, fitness, cultural exchange, and social interaction among Nigerians.
He explained that the three event centres serve as multi-purpose venues for conferences, exhibitions, cultural performances, and community gatherings, thereby fostering unity and friendship across diverse communities.
Highlighting some of his company’s recent corporate social responsibility initiatives, Mamman disclosed that Continental Computers has constructed a 350-seater multipurpose hall at Mamman Buta Community Secondary School, Kadandani; two blocks of classrooms, a headmaster’s office, and a store at Radda Community Arabic Secondary School.
He added that the company also built a two-block classroom facility at Ajiwa Water Works Islamiyya School, along with a mosque—all of which were virtually inaugurated by Governor Radda.
In his remarks, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman, expressed the emirate’s pride in Alhaji Salisu Mamman for his contributions to the propagation of Islam and his charitable efforts, especially during the fasting period.
The Emir, who was represented by the Kauran Katsina, Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Abdulkadir, urged the people of the state to continue praying for the restoration of peace and stability.
