From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina

The Chairman of the Ward and Local Government Congress Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Katsina State, Jamilu Uwais-Zaki, has said the successful conduct of the party’s ward congresses across the state signals victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Uwais-Zaki stated this on Saturday in Katsina during a joint press briefing on the outcome of the exercise.

He said the smooth conduct of the congresses reflected the transparency, fairness and level playing field provided for all party members.

According to him, the exercise further reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, discipline and unity.

“The outcome attests to the fairness, transparency and orderly conduct of the screening committee across all wards,” he said.

The chairman commended party members for their orderly conduct throughout the exercise, noting that no appeal, petition or complaint was submitted to the committee for consideration.

On his part, the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Dr Bashir Ibrahim-Boni, said the screening process was conducted without any hitches.

He explained that the committee verified the membership status of all aspirants and ensured that all required documents were duly submitted before the congresses.

Ibrahim-Boni also commended the Local Organising Committee for its role in ensuring the success of the screening exercise.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and Chief of Staff to Governor Dikko Radda, Abdulkadir Mamman-Nasir, disclosed that the congresses were conducted across all the 361 wards in the state.

Mamman-Nasir said the committees were mandated to produce leaders who would reposition the party for greater progress ahead of another term.

He added that the exercise was conducted in line with the rules and guidelines enshrined in the party’s constitution.

“As of today, there is no ward or local government you cannot access across the state due to improved security,” he said.
