Northwest University Kano (NWUK) has recorded another significant milestone in its efforts to improve power supply and strengthen campus infrastructure, as the Physical Infrastructure Department of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) commenced the formal taking-over and handover process, marking the official start of the Solarization Project at the university’s main campus.
The exercise, which took place on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, was led by the Director of Physical Infrastructure, Architect Yusuf Muhammad Ashiru, who headed the TETFund delegation to the university.
The delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, in her office, where she was joined by principal officers and other members of the university management.
Welcoming the delegation, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero expressed appreciation to TETFund for its continued support toward the development of the university.

She thanked TETFund for approving the solarization project, describing it as a landmark development that has generated excitement among members of the university community.
She added that the commencement of the installation phase represents a major step toward addressing the university’s power challenges and achieving sustainable energy supply on campus.
