Police in Zamfara state have apprehended two suspected wives of notorious bandits leader, Fake Doctor and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition, and hard drugs to bandits in the state.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested while on their way to deliver ammunition to the bandits in the Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Muhammad Dalijan, disclosed while parading the suspects, at the Command headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.

The CP said the personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified as ACS II Maikano S/Tasha was arrested with a large quantity of ammunitions, including AK-47 rounds and anti-aircraft bullets, as well as illicit drugs such as cannabis sativa which he was taking to bandits at Mada area in the State.

CP Dalijan added that the suspected NSCDC Personnel was arrested 2years ago but was later released; he described him as a bandits’ collaborator.

The police also arrested one Mamuda Sani Makakari, a fake doctor, who was found with 441 live ammunition, and said the investigation revealed that he had been providing medical care to wounded bandits in the bush.

CP Dalijan said the suspect was arrested with women and children on their way to Anka Local Government Area with live ammunition to be delivered to bandits, and two of the women detained are the wives of well-known bandit leaders, including the Kachalla Jijji and Bello Kaura.

Zamfara CP Dalijan decried the rate at which the bandits are using women in Hijab to transport arms and ammunition across the state.

CP Dalijan noted that the bandit’s husbands of the detained women have been threatening retaliation attacks on villages and police formations if the women are not released.
