The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged its candidates for the 2027 general elections to avoid campaigns of criticism and personal attacks, stressing that issue-based campaigns and party unity are essential to securing victory at the polls.
The directive was given during a strategic meeting held in Yola, where the party presented certificates of return to its successful candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the meeting, the PDP State Organising Secretary, Said Bako, described the successful conduct of the party’s primaries as a major achievement and urged candidates to work closely with party officials and structures at all levels.
He disclosed that the party’s national leadership would soon harmonise its manifesto, adding that campaigns should focus on policies, programmes and issues affecting the people rather than attacking political opponents or fellow party members.
“The party at the national level will soon harmonise its manifesto, and the campaign is going to be issue-based,” Bako said.
Also speaking, the state PDP Chairman, Stephen Heluwa, called for stronger collaboration between candidates and party leaders to ensure effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He urged members to remain united and committed to strengthening the party’s internal structures.
Party officials and candidates also made contributions during the meeting, highlighting measures to improve internal cohesion, coordination and grassroots mobilisation across the state.
The candidates pledged loyalty, discipline and commitment to the party, promising to respect its structures and work harmoniously with fellow aspirants and leaders to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the PDP House of Representatives candidate for the Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Prof. Ibrahim Emmanuel Vahyala, said the engagement had boosted the confidence of candidates and reaffirmed their determination to provide quality representation to the people.
