From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Katsina State government has disbursed over N50 million to victims of bandit attacks in Matazu, Kankia, and Batsari local government areas.
Saidu Ibrahim Danja, the Senior Special Assistant for Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), handed over the funds to the beneficiaries. Danja clarified that the disbursement was not compensation but a form of assistance to alleviate the suffering of the victims.
He stated that Governor Dikko Umar Radda directed the department to release the funds following an assessment of the number of victims in the three local government areas. Danja further explained that, over the past two years, the administration of Governor Radda has provided similar assistance to families who lost loved ones and other victims of bandit attacks.
Danja urged the people of Katsina to continue praying for an end to insecurity in the state and to provide useful information to security agencies about the hideouts of criminals.
Earlier, the Chairman of Kankia Local Government, Musa Maikudi, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the money they received. He also commended the state government for its efforts to address the problem of insecurity.
This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to supporting affected individuals and mitigating the impact of banditry on communities in Katsina State.
