The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting Tabital Fulaku International in its mission to foster unity among the Fulani community across Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Kano chapter of Tabital Fulaku International, Comrade Gwarzo encouraged Fulani leaders to remain resolute in mentoring younger generations while providing consistent support and guidance.
He expressed concern over the negative portrayal of the Fulani in some media outlets, despite their pivotal contributions to Nigeria’s development.
“The Fulani community has always played a significant role in Nigeria’s growth, producing distinguished leaders in politics, academia, technology, law, and security. Today, a Fulani man serves as the National Security Adviser, which underscores their contributions,” he stated.
Comrade Gwarzo urged the organization’s leadership to engage government officials of Fulani heritage for support and collaboration.
The Deputy Governor criticized the media’s portrayal of the Fulani, saying, “It is deeply troubling that sections of the media tarnish the image of the Fulani people. They are the backbone of our agriculture and the herders who sustain our economy. Such unfair narratives must stop.”
He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to address the media’s misrepresentation of the Fulani’s history and contributions.
Comrade Gwarzo appealed to Fulbe associations nationwide to unite, resolve internal differences, and work collectively to protect the Fulani community’s rights and privileges.
“I urge you to collaborate with stakeholders to preserve and enhance the Fulani’s reputation. A united and cohesive Fulani community will ensure a stronger, more prosperous future,” he said, emphasizing the importance of promoting a balanced and inclusive media narrative.
Earlier, the Ardo of Tabital Fulaku International Nigeria, Alhaji Sanusi Abdullahi Nassarawa, explained that the visit was to inform the government about the association’s activities and seek support in restoring the Fulani community’s image.
“Our primary goal is to unite the Fulani people, modernize our trade, and educate our community,” he said. He also called for government collaboration, particularly through the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Alhaji Sanusi emphasized that the Fulani are a peaceful and development-oriented people who have made immense contributions to Nigeria’s growth and progress.
