From Maawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Suspected bandits in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State have called for a peace dialogue with the government.
The Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government, Faruk Hayatu, disclosed this while addressing members of the Correspondents’ Chapel during their tour of the area.
He revealed that the council had received several letters from the bandits requesting a peace dialogue.
“The bandits have insisted on engaging in a peace dialogue with the government. They have sent multiple letters to us regarding this issue,” he said.
However, Hayatu emphasized that the government would not negotiate with bandits.
He stated that the council, in collaboration with the state government, would continue to take all necessary measures to combat banditry in the area.
He further disclosed that the council recently rescued over 1,000 people from captivity. “We will continue to do everything possible to rescue our people and protect the area from any attacks,” he added.
Hayatu commended the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umar Radda for its efforts in addressing insecurity in the state.
Speaking on the council’s activities, he stated that three primary healthcare centers had been renovated and equipped with essential medical facilities.
Additionally, three residential quarters were built within these centers to accommodate health workers.
He also mentioned that the council had constructed drainages in ten villages to prevent flooding.
