A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and popular biker in Calabar South Local Government Area, Cross River State, Mr. Effangha Asuquo, widely known as “Lasisi,” has died in a tragic road accident.
Lasisi was involved in a fatal collision between his motorcycle and a Toyota Jeep late Sunday night along Murtala Muhammed Highway near Diamond Junction.
According to eyewitnesses, he died on the spot, while a female passenger he was carrying was left in a coma.
She later regained consciousness before arriving at the hospital.
The late biker was the leader of the Maxk Riders gang and also held the position of leader of all biker gang leaders in Calabar. Bikers in the state have a long-standing tradition of organizing rides during end-of-year festivities, playing a key role in supporting the state government’s tourism agenda.
Their annual ride remains a major highlight of the festive season in Cross River.
His death has sent shockwaves through the biking community and the political circle in Calabar, where he was well-known for his influence and leadership.
