Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Obajana Division, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and Fulani Vigilantes, have rescued three kidnap victims during a raid operation in Ankomi Forest, Kogi State.
According to a statement by the Kogi State Police Command Spokesman, SP William Aya, the victims were rescued unhurt after a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers deep in the forest.
Aya said the criminals, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the joint security team, abandoned their captives and escaped with gunshot wounds.
Further investigations revealed that the victims—Musa Abdullahi from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, and Abdulazeez Adamu from Okene, Kogi State—were abducted on May 15, 2025, while traveling in a J5 vehicle along the Osara road. They were returning from Ekpoma, Edo State, en route to Jos, Plateau State.
The third victim, Yusuf Ibrahim from Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State, was reportedly abducted from a trailer on the same day and location.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, commended the joint security team for their bravery and professionalism during the rescue operation. He reiterated the Command’s commitment—working in synergy with other security agencies—to rid the state of crime and criminal elements.
He also urged residents of nearby communities to be vigilant and report anyone seen with gunshot injuries or seeking unusual medical attention to the nearest security formation.
