Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated the Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV) Malumfashi Annex, fulfilling yet another of his campaign promises aimed at tackling youth unemployment through skills acquisition.
Speaking during the commissioning on Thursday, the state’s Commissioner for Higher, Technical and Vocational Education, Alhaji Isah Muhammad Musa Kankara—who represented the governor—described the project as a strategic intervention to harness the potential of young people in the Funtua Senatorial Zone and beyond.
According to him, the training has already commenced at the centre, following its accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), which approved KYCV Malumfashi as a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Training Provider. He said the centre now offers certified vocational programmes aligned with national and international standards.
The Coordinator of the Katsina Youth Craft Village, Engr. Dr. Kabir Abdullahi Kofar Soro, expressed excitement over the commencement of activities at the centre, noting the enthusiasm of trainees already engaged in their new learning environment.
“Discipline, commitment, and focus will be key to your success,” he told the students, urging them to seize the opportunity.
Dr. Kofar Soro also announced the appointment of Engr. Aminu Hassan as the Centre Manager of the Malumfashi Annex. Hassan is expected to oversee daily operations and ensure smooth implementation of the training curriculum.
Also speaking at the event, Engr. Muntari Sagir Malumfashi, who represented former Senator Bello Mandiya, expressed pride in seeing the facility—donated by the former lawmaker—transform into a hub of empowerment. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and committed to their personal growth.
Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Council, Hon. Muntari Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of the community, commended Governor Radda for bringing the long-awaited project to reality.
“This is a generational investment. Our community is deeply grateful, and we pray for continued blessings and success for the Governor,” he said.
The event attracted a wide range of dignitaries including government officials, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, members of the Malumfashi Stakeholders Forum, youth representatives, and vocational education advocates.
