From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Governor Umar Dikko Radda has launched the free distribution of school uniforms, learning materials, and bags to orphans and vulnerable children in the state.
The items were provided by Dan Amana Tested and Trusted Foundation, a non-governmental organisation operating in Katsina.
Speaking at the event held at Nagogo Primary School, Governor Radda described the initiative as a step toward boosting grassroots education. He said the distribution of school items is expected to increase enrolment among children.
“This is not just any gathering; it is for the noble purpose of helping those in need—the orphans and less privileged,” the Governor said. He added that assisting the underprivileged invites Allah’s mercy and pledged that his administration will always support initiatives aimed at community welfare.
Earlier, the Director General of Dan Amana Tested and Trusted Foundation, Suleiman Kabir Barda, said the foundation was established to support less privileged children in accessing education.
“Today’s launch is only the beginning. We will continue to visit schools regularly and provide assistance to vulnerable children,” he said.
Barda added that the foundation plans to extend its support beyond education, including medical assistance for children in Quranic schools and training programs for youth to become self-employed.
He also revealed that the foundation will embark on enlightenment campaigns on voter registration. Barda commended Governor Radda for his administration’s efforts to transform Katsina State.
