From Musa Muhammad Kutama, Calabar
The Cross River State government has cancelled the cattle movement permit it earlier granted to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, which allowed their cattle to move from Ebonyi State through Cross River to Cameroon.
The revocation was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Livestock, Aquaculture, and Fisheries Development, Emmanuel Anom, on Sunday and made available to journalists in Calabar, the state capital.
According to Anom, the cancellation overrides the previously issued permit.
“The Commissioner, on behalf of the Cross River State government, hereby announces the cancellation of the movement permit earlier issued to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders for the movement of their cattle from Ebonyi State, across Cross River State, to Cameroon.
“This cancellation supersedes the previously issued permit. All security agencies are hereby directed to be vigilant and prevent any such movement through Cross River State,” the statement said.
The notice, dated 22nd November 2025 and titled “Cancellation of cattle movement permit in Cross River State,” further directed all security agencies in the state to be alert and ensure compliance.
“All security agencies are, by this notice, directed to be vigilant and prevent any such movement through Cross River State,” the statement added.
This move comes amid rising concerns over security and the need to prevent potential conflicts between herders and farmers in the state.
