Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has reiterated his commitment to strengthening ties between the state government and journalists, describing the media as a vital bridge linking government policies with the people.
Gwarzo made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the new leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel in Kano, led by Chairman Comrade Murtala Adewale.
He said the media plays a critical role in educating citizens on government initiatives and highlighting community challenges that require urgent attention.

While delivering his remarks, the deputy governor, expressed concern over the escalating security challenges across the country, the Deputy Governor urged journalists to intensify reporting on threats facing communities while calling on security agencies to take decisive action.
He also emphasized the importance of modern communication technology in combating terrorism and kidnappings, urging media houses to continually draw the government’s attention to the need for innovative strategies.
“Today’s era demands expertise, innovation, and new approaches in reporting, especially with the growing influence of social media and artificial intelligence,” Gwarzo said, noting that such tools could enhance accountability and public awareness.
In response, Comrade Murtala Adewale said the chapel’s visit was part of its tradition of renewing ties with key partners whenever a new leadership takes office.
He commended the state government for fulfilling its promises to journalists within the first four months of the administration.

“Last week, the Kano State Government sponsored 30 of our members for a workshop outside Kano, a first in our history,” Adewale said.
He called for continued partnership with the government and reaffirmed the chapel’s commitment to supporting the present administration’s initiatives.
The meeting was attended by members of the chapel’s executive committee and other senior journalists.
