From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has vowed not to tamper with Local Government Council (LGC) funds, promising consistent monthly releases to accelerate development at the grassroots.
Speaking during his visit to Daura Local Government as part of a statewide tour, Radda said the monthly disbursement ensures financial autonomy for the councils and strengthens their capacity to implement local projects.
He commended local governments for executing various initiatives aimed at improving the standard of living for residents, adding that his administration will continue to support councils in delivering their mandates.
During the tour, Governor Radda visited Daura, Dutsi, Mashi, and Mani council areas. In Daura, he flagged the construction of the township and awarded scholarships to 600 students sponsored by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya.
In Dutsi, he commissioned the construction of Shargalle–Lngawa road, a project sponsored by the local government council. At Mashi and Mani councils, Radda distributed empowerment items to generate income for youths and reduce poverty.
He said the statewide tour is designed to meet residents directly, compile their demands, and ensure responsive governance.
The governor acknowledged the warm reception accorded to him and pledged to maintain an open-door policy for all citizens.
