Akwa United F.C. defeated Calabar Rovers F.C. 1-0 in a Week 10 encounter of the Nigeria National League B2 Southern Conference at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The tightly contested match was decided in the dying minutes when Aniebiet Sunday netted the only goal of the encounter to hand the hosts maximum points.
The victory propelled Akwa United to the top of the NNL B2 Southern Conference table with 22 points from 10 matches.
Rovers, on the other hand, dropped to eighth position on the table with 10 points from the same number of games following the defeat.
The result further strengthens Akwa United’s push for promotion as the race in the Southern Conference intensifies.
