The Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has distributed 17 brand-new vehicles to the newly elected All Progressives Congress Local Government Chairmen across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The gesture, according to the state government, is aimed at strengthening grassroots political leadership and enhancing the operational capacity of the ruling party at the local level.
The vehicles were presented on behalf of the governor by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, at a ceremony attended by party leaders and government officials in the state.
Speaking during the presentation, Gubana said the gesture was designed to facilitate the activities of the party leadership at the grassroots and ensure effective coordination of the programmes and policies of the APC across the state.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the vehicles in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Gubana said, “The vehicles are provided to assist you in carrying out your responsibilities effectively at the grassroots. You should therefore make good use of them in mobilising support for government programmes and strengthening the unity of our party across the local government areas.”
The deputy governor also cautioned the chairmen against actions capable of causing division within the party.
According to him, “You must eschew bitterness, avoid political betrayals and work towards uniting party supporters in your respective local governments in order to consolidate the achievements of the APC in Yobe State.”
He added that the governor had full confidence in the ability of the newly elected party chairmen to deliver on their mandate at the grassroots level.
Earlier, the Yobe State APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, commended party stakeholders for their support and cooperation during the congresses that produced the new executives.
Gadaka urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the governor’s gesture with dedication and loyalty to the party.
He said, “The vehicles given to you are meant strictly for party activities. They are not for personal use or sale, and you must deploy them in strengthening the APC across all the local government areas.”
The event was attended by several government and party officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of the State Civil Service, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, Hon. Aji Yerima Bularafa, Barrister Sale Samanja, the Special Adviser on Political Matters, as well as members of the APC State Executive Committee and other stakeholders.
