Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have recorded another operational success against terrorists operating within Kogi State following a well-coordinated ambush along bandit crossing points within the Adankolo Forest Reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists within the area, troops of the 12 Brigade Quick Response Group laid ambush at a suspected crossing point in the early hours of Sunday, 10 May 2026.
During the operation, the troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them in a firefight, neutralising one terrorist, while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the surrounding bush.
Following the encounter, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, one fabricated pistol, six magazines, and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Other items recovered include one camouflage bandolier, one Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks, and the sum of Sixty-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred Naira (N62,900.00).
The successful operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Operation TIGER PAW II to deny terrorists freedom of movement and enhance security along major routes and communities within Kogi State and adjoining areas.
Troops are currently exploiting the general area to track and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
