Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen, and Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, son of elder statesman Prof. Ango Abdullahi, were among the candidates who emerged victorious as the All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded its House of Representatives primary elections in Kaduna State on Saturday.
Announcing the results at the party’s state secretariat, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Yakubu Hosseini, said the exercise was conducted in compliance with the APC constitution and guidelines.
He declared Abbas Tajuddeen unopposed in the Zaria Federal Constituency after polling 930 votes.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the APC Constitution and Guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, he is hereby returned elected as the party’s House of Representatives candidate,” Hosseini stated.
Other consensus candidates included Amos Gwamna Magaji for Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency with 1,930 votes, and Mukhtar Zakarin Chiawai for Kauru Federal Constituency with 1,750 votes.
In the contested races, Samaila Abdul Suleiman won the Kaduna North Federal Constituency with 3,049 votes, defeating Abdulaziz Abubakar Kaka, who scored 65 votes, and Abubakar Mahmoud, who polled 96 votes.
Benjamin Gugong emerged winner of the Kaura Federal Constituency after securing 1,085 votes against Donatus Mathieu’s 255 votes.
Felix Joseph Bagudu was declared winner in Kachia Federal Constituency with 1,580 votes, while Daniel Amos and Gabriel Salle emerged victorious in Jema’a/Sanga and Kagarko/Kachia federal constituencies respectively.
Sadiq Ango Abdullahi also emerged successful, scoring 920 votes in his constituency’s contest.
Similarly, Bashir Suleiman Juntu and Muhammad Jallo recorded 1,787 and 1,171 votes respectively in their constituencies.
Kaduna State APC Chairman, Atiku Sanke, formally accepted the results and declared the exercise concluded.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at the venue with collated results from across the constituencies.
