Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has described the endorsement of Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila by the people of Kano South Senatorial District as a strong indication of a sweeping victory for the APC across the zone and the entire state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday.
Governor Yusuf made the remark during a grand endorsement gathering organised by stakeholders from Kano South Senatorial District to formally declare Senator Kawu Sumaila as the sole flag bearer of the party.
The event, attended by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was held on Monday at the Rano Town Stadium.
The Governor expressed satisfaction over the endorsement, which came shortly after the successful reconciliation between Senator Kawu Sumaila and Hon. Alhassan Rurum.
He assured the people of the region that they would continue to benefit from massive developmental projects aimed at improving their living conditions.
“The present administration has designed gigantic programmes for the teeming youth of the state ahead of 2027 to ensure their ambitions are fully realised,” the Governor stated.
Governor Yusuf also announced the approval for the conversion of the Rano Rural and Community Development Institute into a Federal Polytechnic of Technology.
He further disclosed plans to upgrade the Rano General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre.
According to him, the institutions will accelerate growth and development in the region.
The Governor added that the existing infrastructure of the Rano Rural and Community Development Centre would be relocated to Takai Constituency to expand educational opportunities for the people.
Governor Yusuf commended the growing acceptance of the “Kano First” slogan across local government areas in the state.
He said the administration’s ultimate goal is to restore Kano’s lost values and strengthen unity among the people.
The Governor also praised party stakeholders and supporters in the area for ensuring a peaceful endorsement process.
He assured them of his full support towards securing victory for the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
In their separate remarks, Senator Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Alhassan Rurum, and Hon. Alhassan Doguwa pledged total loyalty and support to Governor Yusuf.
They assured the Governor that Kano South would deliver victory for him, President Tinubu, and all APC candidates in the next general elections.
Other dignitaries at the event included the representative of the APC National Chairman, Barrister Garba Datti Muhammad; the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure; and the Chairperson of the Kano State ALGON, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yushau.
