Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State have accused Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of allegedly creating confusion within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by Hon. Ibrahim El-Marad on behalf of the group, the stakeholders alleged that information available to them indicated that the senator was planning to strike deals with opposition parties against the APC.
The statement further claimed that some individuals loyal to Senator Yari allegedly recruited local vigilantes and suspected bandits to cause chaos during the elections in the Maradun I and Maradun II State Assembly constituencies.
According to the group, such actions were not compatible with democratic principles, adding that the alleged plans could threaten the unity of the party and the conduct of the 2027 general elections.
They stressed that the popularity of the APC in Maradun Local Government remained strong and could not be undermined, insisting that decisive action should be taken against any criminal elements allegedly working against the party.
“The stakeholders, members, and supporters of the APC in Maradun Local Government appreciate the large turnout of supporters during the APC presidential and State House of Assembly primary elections,” the statement said.
The group added that the massive turnout demonstrated the popularity and influence of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, whom they described as a key figure in promoting unity within the APC across Zamfara State.
They further stated that the outcome of the party primaries reflected the strong support enjoyed by Matawalle in Maradun Local Government and across the state.
