The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of the notorious Sara-Suka cult group and recovered dangerous weapons as well as suspected illegal substances from them.
The arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, psc(++), FCAI, MSPSP, to curb criminal activities and the use of illicit substances across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Alfred Alabo, police detectives attached to the Command’s Anti-Cyber Crime and Narcotics Unit arrested one Adam Abdullahi, 18, of Yen Siminti, Rikkos, Jos.
The suspect was apprehended at Gengere while allegedly in possession of a double-edged knife, cult-related attires, and substances suspected to be Crystal Methamphetamine, popularly known as “Ice.”
Similarly, officers attached to the Angwan Rogo Division arrested one Khalifa Yusuf, 20, of Angwan Rimi, Jos, for allegedly being in possession of dangerous weapons.
The suspect was arrested at 011 Prayer Ground opposite the University of Jos Permanent Site. Exhibits recovered from him include a knife and some dry leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The command stated that both suspects are currently in police custody undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Plateau State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and all forms of criminality in the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police with timely and credible information.
The command also provided emergency contact numbers for members of the public to report emergencies and misconduct by police officers.
