The Social Democratic Party (Social Democratic Party) in Zamfara State has conducted its governorship primary election, in which Hon. Hamza Musa Maibulawus emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The result of the primary election, which was conducted across the 14 local government areas of the state on Tuesday evening in Gusau, was announced by the Chairman of the SDP Primaries Committee, Comrade Bello Hussaini.
He stated that the exercise was peaceful, orderly, free, and fair.
According to him, the governorship primary, which produced Maibulawus as the candidate, was conducted through a voice vote in line with the party’s electoral guidelines.
“The exercise was peaceful, orderly, free, and fair, where Hon. Hamza Musa Maibulawus emerged as the 2027 SDP governorship candidate in the state,” he said.
He further explained that the primary election was conducted in accordance with party guidelines across all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.
In his remarks, the Zamfara SDP governorship candidate, speaking through his running mate, Hon. Murtala Jangebe, expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the 2027 governorship election.
“SDP is prepared to slug it out with the incumbent governor. Our blueprint is for the development of the state economically and socially. We have a clear plan for the betterment of citizens,” he said.
The party reiterated its readiness to contest the forthcoming election with a focus on development, governance reforms, and improved welfare for the people of Zamfara State.
