Residents of Tsamaye town in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have apprehended two persons suspected of attempting to steal an electricity transformer in the community.
According to local sources, the suspects were arrested during the alleged operation, while three other members of the group reportedly escaped.
The arrested individuals have since been handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The incident has heightened concerns over the increasing cases of vandalism and theft of power infrastructure in parts of Sokoto State, with residents calling for stronger measures to protect public utilities and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
