The Yobe State Government has taken another significant step towards strengthening road infrastructure with the signing of contracts for three major road projects aimed at improving connectivity, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing the movement of people and goods across the state.
In a press statement issued by Abubakar Maikau, the Information Officer of the Yobe State Ministry of Works, the contract signing ceremony was held on Thursday, 18th June 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Works, Damaturu, where the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakili, signed the agreements on behalf of the Yobe State Government.
The awarded projects include:
Repair and Asphalt Overlay of Kalallawa–Kaliyari Road – awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited.
Reconstruction of Tetteba–Gulani Road with a 7-kilometre Spur to Garin Tuwo – awarded to Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited.
Completion of 7 Kilometres Asphalt Overlay of Damagum–Gubana Road – awarded to EEC Nigeria Limited.
The projects are part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s sustained commitment to expanding, modernising, and upgrading critical infrastructure across Yobe State to support socio-economic growth and improve the living conditions of the people.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakili, reiterated the administration’s determination to deliver durable and high-quality infrastructure that would stand the test of time.
He explained that the projects were carefully selected to address transportation challenges, improve access to communities, facilitate trade and commerce, and advance the state’s development agenda.
According to him, Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration remains focused on investing in strategic infrastructure that promotes economic development, creates opportunities for businesses, and enhances the welfare of citizens across the state.
Responding on behalf of the contracting firms, Mr. Adamu Sallau of Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited expressed appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni and the Yobe State Government for the confidence reposed in the companies.
He assured that all contractors involved would execute the projects strictly in accordance with approved specifications, maintain the highest standards of workmanship, and ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe.
Mr. Sallau further pledged the contractors’ commitment to delivering quality road infrastructure that would have a lasting impact on the lives of residents, boost economic activities, and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of Yobe State.
The contract awards underscore the Buni administration’s commitment to infrastructure development as a key driver of economic transformation, rural accessibility, and sustainable growth across the state.
