Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed 1,540 plots of land and a cash grant of N100 million to leaders of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ‘Yan Akwati, in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gesture was announced during the official inauguration of the association, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf described the polling unit network as the backbone of the APC’s electoral success, stressing that empowering grassroots supporters would further enhance the party’s mobilisation capacity.
He said the support would strengthen efforts to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates in the 2027 polls.
The governor added that President Tinubu’s return for a second term would ensure the continuation of ongoing economic reforms and development programmes across the country.
According to him, the allocation of 1,540 plots of land and the N100 million grant is intended to motivate members of the association and improve coordination of party activities at the polling unit level.
Speaking earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the intervention as the first phase of a wider strategy to consolidate the APC’s grassroots support base ahead of the next general elections.
He expressed confidence that the ‘Yan Akwati network has the capacity to mobilise more than one million votes for President Tinubu in Kano State.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by party leaders, political stakeholders and representatives of the association from all 44 local government areas of Kano State.
